CONTEMPORÁNEA Repeniques
The repenique (or repique) is a Brazilian percussion instrument that is usually metallic with plastic heads, although they can also be made of wood and with leather heads. The most common size is 12" head x 30cms in high, although smaller sizes are also available.
It usually has an important role in the group because he usually marks the cuts and changes of rhythm.
It can be played with two flexible sticks, and also with a short wooden stick in one hand and the other hand directly on the head.
Contemporanea is one of the most important brands in Brazilian percussion. It has a professional line and a cheaper one called Contemporanea Light. In the latter, the instruments are a little lighter and the aluminum is not polished, which reduces the cost considerably.
