It makes the playing posture more similar to that of traditional bagpipes.

The indicated tonality refers to the note that is achieved by covering the first 3 holes, which is how it is defined in India. In parentheses is the major key that is achieved from the lowest note, covering the six holes. That is, each flute is in the major key indicated in parentheses.
